Technical database

During the course of a year we are repeatedly asked similar questions, some technical and some pretty fundamental. To assist compressed air users everywhere, we have compiled a Technical Database. Find out more >>

PREVIOUS PROJECTS:

A précis of some previous Projects.

The following list illustrates just a small representation of the type and nature of projects undertaken by Cashflo Limited over the past few years or so. It is by no means exhaustive.

Airbus.
Compressed air is an important and comparatively expensive utility for the site. We were asked to measure the compressed air usage around the site and carry out an ultrasonic leak study. The project required the installation of six sets of turbine meters, pressure transducers and data loggers that collected compressed air flow rate data for a period of two weeks. The final report provided valuable energy saving recommendations.

Baxter Healthcare.
A large internationally well known organisation. We analysed their requirements and compiled their bid specification which was fairly complex, as the compressed air was to be used for pharmaceutical use. We reviewed the bids which were received for technical content and compliance with the original specifications.

BMW - Swindon Pressings.
A long-term client with over 2MW of installed compressor capacity. We have carried out several compressed air investigations and surveys over a period spanning ten years. The Press-Shop air systems have since been upgraded, based upon our resulting recommendations.

BOC Gases.
We have completed several compressed air and compressed nitrogen surveys for and on behalf of BOC. This has included the compilation & preparation of P&ID's together with fiscal evaluation of plant and equipment.

British Antarctic Survey.
A general energy survey directed towards the efficient application of refrigeration systems, lighting and air handling systems. This non-intrusive survey employed hand held monitoring and measuring equipment, resulting in a comprehensive report that highlighted several energy saving opportunities.

Eternit UK.
We were appointed the Competent Person for the site and asked to draw up the specifications for replacement compressed air plant and equipment. We also attended factory acceptance trials on behalf of the client to confirm performance and Project Managed the entire installation.

Future Energy Solutions.
Originally known as ETSU, this division of AEAT is heavily involved in environmental research and efficient energy application. We have carried out a number of special research projects and studies on their behalf, including the compilation of the Carbon Trust compressed air 'energy wizard' internet website.

ICI.
We prepared the enquiry documentation for the new compressed air system, went out to Tender on behalf of ICI, selected a handful of technically acceptable bids and negotiated the contract through to order placement. We also acted as the overall Project Managers for the installation.

Jaguar Cars.
We were appointed Project Manager for the new compressed air system and subesquently designed the compressed air system for the new £84m paint line. Prior to hand-over we carried out specific efficiency tests to validate the performance of the compressors and dryers.

Makro.
Another general energy survey. This study specifically targeted the refrigeration systems and lighting systems for their newest UK store. The survey identified several energy saving opportunities, resulting in year-on-year energy savings.

National Power.
During a multi-million pound refurbishment of the Engineering Workshops, we were appointed the Competent Person for the site and designed the new compressed air system. We were also appointed as Project Manager for the compressor house refurbishment.

Outokumpu.
A major international steel producer with several steel works in the UK. This study specifically examined the compressed air usage for three mills and profiled output with air generation. The study allowed enquiry documents to be compiled so that the existing air compressors could be replaced with modern and more efficient equipment.

Texaco Refinery.
A major compressed air study that lasted for several months. The investigation concentrated upon the compressed air, compressed nitrogen & breathing air systems. The study also included an analysis of the air generation equipment, compressor control systems, the air dryers and site distribution system. Our final report also included a full set of P&ID drawings for the relevant pipelines.

The Bank of England.
We designed and drafted the specifications for the compressed air system and subsequently Project Managed the installation of the selected equipment.

The Carbon Trust.
We are listed on the database held by The Energy Institute as General Energy Surveyors and Expert Compressed Gas Energy Surveyors. As such, we have undertaken various diverse projects on behalf of the Carbon Trust, resulting is significant energy savings for the ultimate client.
